GLOBAL WORK
Trey Callaway has also built an extensive career as showrunner and consultant for major entertainment companies worldwide, known for combining American storytelling craft with genuine respect for local voice and cultural authenticity.

After running the Chinese-American co-production Gangsters of Shanghai for Ciwen Media and Prodigal TV, Callaway was tapped by Imagine Entertainment co-founder Ron Howard to develop Mindscaping, an original sci-fi drama for Chinese audiences—traveling to Beijing to lead a full writers’ room through its first season.

That work led to a string of international consulting roles: Amazon Studios sent him to Mexico City to work with filmmakers across Mexico, Argentina, Colombia, and Chile; he helped launch six series in Tokyo; and contributed to a half-dozen more productions in Egypt and Saudi Arabia. Netflix brought him to Munich to help shepherd the German drama Kitz into production, and has since had him lead writers’ workshops across Europe, the Middle East, South America, Asia, and Africa.

As a Consulting Producer, Callaway helped launch both Taiwan Crime Stories and Gunshots for Disney+ Asia, and has also served as a CP on Amazon’s hit Argentinian series Barrabrava. In his words, “the best stories define us and unite us.” And Callaway’s unique ability to work with global storytellers has been very successful in doing just that.
